Who are Watch D.O.G.S.^® (Dads Of Great Students)?

Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures serve on campus for one day or many each year under the leadership of a program coordinator and under the guidance of a school principal or designated administrator. Our program speaks directly to those care-givers and guardians who are statistically less likely to come onto campus to volunteer.

As always, thank you so much for volunteering your time and joining us here at MVE to support the school and your student! Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from the students, dads, and teachers that have been fortunate to interact with the amazing volunteer fathers (or father-figures) that have spent a day (or multiple days!) with us as MVE WatchDOGS over the years.

For anyone unfamiliar with the program, our MVE WatchDOGS join us for the day as volunteers. We create a custom schedule for each father, with the goal to have them spending time in their student(s) classroom(s), out on the playground, in the lunchroom, and in other classrooms around the school. Each room might look different, but dads will spend the day playing games on the playground, assisting with math problems, reading books, engaging in scientific inquiry, or simply giving students high fives in the hallway. Each dad is provided with a MVE WatchDOGS schedule upon arrival and then will spend the rest of the day engaging with students around the school. Fathers will also have their pictures taken with students and posted to our WatchDOGS Hall of Fame in the front hallway of the school!
