Watch PALS
Who are Watch PALS (Parents and Loved ones Supporting)?
We've worked to have our volunteer group be more inclusive, and did a little rebranding. While we've always welcomed any volunteers, using the official Watch DOGs organization (which was initially designed to encourage fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures serve on campus for one day as they are statistically less likely to come onto campus to volunteer) didn't always feel inclusive.
At MVE our Watch PALS join us for the day as volunteers. We create a custom schedule (please plan to follow your schedule as printed, as staff/teachers are expecting extra support at certain times) for each volunteer, with the goal to have them spending time in their student(s) classroom(s), out on the playground, in the lunchroom, and in other classrooms around the school. Each room might look different, but volunteers will spend the day playing games on the playground, assisting with math problems, reading books, engaging in scientific inquiry, or simply giving students high fives in the hallway.
Please note there is a district security update this year, and all Watch PALS need to complete the following paperwork and get district approval before securing a volunteer date. (approval is good for the year). https://www.cherrycreekschools.org/community/family-community-engagement
