Second Grade

nicole larson with her familyHi!  My name is Nicole Larson, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Mountain Vista staff and community.  I was born and raised in eastern South Dakota, home of the Corn Palace!  After graduating from high school, I attended Black Hills State University and graduated with an Elementary Education degree.  I recently received a Master's in Technology in Education through Lesley University.  This is my 20th year in education, 19 years in 2nd grade and one in 3rd grade.

What excites me about Mountain Vista is that we, the staff, the community, the parents and students, all have the opportunity to create something special here... a place where everyone is excited to be!  I believe that ALL kids are unique and special, and it is our job to set high expectations and inspire them to meet those expectations.  I look forward to building a creative and caring classroom of learners.

I am married, going on 20 years, and have 3 beautiful children, Joseph, Grace and Elizabeth.  Grace and Elizabeth attend school here and are very excited about being a part of this amazing building!  As a family, we love spending time camping, bike riding and watching as many Rockies games as we can.

I sincerely look forward to meeting all of you and am excited to embark on this educational adventure with you and your family.

Caine and Diana.jpgHi!  My name is Diana Hills and I am so thrilled to be a part of the Mountain Vista family!  This is my sixth year of teaching, but my first year here in the Cherry Creek School District.  I graduated from Eaglecrest High School, so it is an honor to come home and serve the community that did so much for me!

Teaching is truly a passion for me!  I love to inspire the desire to learn and help instill the values of being a lifelong learner.  I am enthusiastic to have the opportunity to be teaching at Mountain Vista in my hometown!  I will strive to be the best teacher for your child by providing a safe, fun, engaging, and challenging learning environment.

When I am not teaching you will find me with my husband Caine.  We love camping, boating, and just hanging out. We both enjoy traveling and try to get away during the breaks to a tropical destination.

I look forward to working with you this year in leading your child into a brighter future!

heidi.jpgHi!  My name is Heidi Sherry, and I am so excited to be a part of the Mountain Vista family!  I have been teaching for 13 years, all of them in second and third grades.  I am a Colorado native, and I attended Colorado State University for my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies.  I then got my Masters in Education from Regis University in Literacy, which is a passion of mine.

I love to see each and every student I teach grow and blossom in my classroom.  I believe they do this best in a classroom environment that is caring, nurturing, safe, and fun.  I am committed to helping each child reach their full potential and find their love for learning.

My husband, Matt, and I have two wonderful children, Mason, who is 7, and Adalynn, who is 4.  Together as a family we love watching movies, going to the mountains, and hanging out with family and friends.

I am looking forward to spending an amazing year on this journey that is second grade.  Together we can make this year your child's best year yet!

Luther.jpgI'm Sarah Luther, and am excited to be a member of the Mountain Vista learning community.  I grew up in Massachusetts, beginning my career teaching kindergarten outside of Boston.   Since moving to Colorado over 15 years ago, I have taught K and 1st grade, as well as, earned a Masters of Education in Literacy from Regis University.  I love teaching for the Cherry Creek School District, and look forward to another great year!

I am passionate and committed to every student's success.  I believe in building strong relationships that recognize uniqueness, capitalize on strengths, and celebrate diversity. Together we will model a culture of kindness and respect, in which each individual feels safe, loved, important, smart, and empowered.  I also believe that children learn best when they are engaged in activities that foster grit, perseverance, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and innovation.  Most importantly, our classroom will be a welcoming and positive space where students, parents, and teachers, alike, feel excited about being part of the learning process.

When not in the classroom, I can be found camping in national parks, skiing in the mountains, biking to Rockies games, and enjoying the outdoors with my family and friends.
